Benefits of Sleeping on the Human Body by Kent Komine
Benefits of Sleeping on the Human Body
by Kent Komine
As
teenagers, we usually walk into school tired, sleepy, and unmotivated. Unfortunately, that is most often linked to
the deprivation of sleep, caused by our teachers who give us too many things to
do at home. Or maybe you’re involved in
sports and extracurricular activities that are rigorous and time
consuming. Nonetheless, we are in lack
of sleep, and that’s not a good thing.
Sleeping,
as many of you would have guessed, is an essential aspect of life. It’s very beneficial to your health, much
like fruits and veggies are also beneficial to your body. But just how useful is sleeping? Should you be concerned if you don’t get enough sleep
each night? The truth is, sleeping is
absolutely necessary to maintain a healthy body, and a healthy lifestyle
overall.
Scientific
research has proven that people who sleep between 7 to 9 hours each night have
a healthier heart than those who don’t.
When you sleep more, your heart remains relaxed as you wake up, thus
preventing high blood pressures. In the
long run, healthier hearts are less likely to have a heart attack or
stroke. In addition to keeping your
heart healthy, sleeping also provides the human body with many, many more
merits. For example, sleep can minimize
daily stress and make you more alert.
When those two are combined, you can go out into the world with a
happier attitude and enjoy your day.
Finally, sleeping well is not limited to only nighttime. Taking naps during the daytime is also
advantageous to your health. Much like
with nighttime sleep, naps can help you avoid high blood pressure, stay sharp,
and stay in a better mood throughout the day.
So when you come home from school, consider taking a a nap too.
All
in all, sleep is very important to a person’s health. The occasional all-nighter will not
necessarily harm you, but could make your next day irritable and not as
productive. Just remember: Sleeping is
crucial, and should not be disregarded ever (the only exception to this is if
you were playing Modern Warfare 3 with your friends after the midnight launch).

Benefits of Tea on the Human Body by Peggy Ho
Benefits of Tea on the Human Body
By Peggy Ho
By Peggy Ho
Oh, Heavenly Teas!
After a long, grueling morning at work dealing with frustrated, wealthy people, during which my boss had been relaxing in his office 'talking' to my female co-worker, I decided to quickly find my way to the office lounge. Oh, how I longed for the scent and taste of tea, melting in my mouth, the aroma permeating the air, seeping between the cracks in the closed doors." I better be swift," I thought to myself, "Don't want my co-workers knowing about my secret stash of Gunpowder and Rose tea."
"WAIT!" I realized, "What if... I told everyone about this wonderful tea. Perhaps people will be calmer. Perhaps there won't be as many diseases and health problems. Perhaps we can live in a balanced world of yin and yang again, and maybe we'll achieve world peace! Well, I guess that's a bit too far, but I think I'll just open the door a little bit. I'm sure everyone will smell the fragrant tea and come rushing over, even my boss who doesn't do much probably will."
While sipping my tea, leaning against the granite counter-top, a group of people from my section of the office arrived. They appeared desperate, dark bags under all of their eyes, each one holding a mug of coffee in their hands with another one juggling a bottle of 5-hour energy in his hands.
"Woah, guys, are you all all right?" I surprisingly cried, hoping they'd be direct with what they wanted. One of my friends, Jackie, stumbled forward, groaning, "Well, Peggy... we're tired of drinking coffee and energy drinks everyday. Day after day, week after week, and after all of these months, I just can't stand it anymore! Please, I beg of you... WE beg of you, what is your secret? Do you have some sort of different flavored coffee? Please, tell us!"
"Yes, please!" pleaded my boss, who had just stumbled through the hall and landed on his knees, his cloudy grey eyes urging me to tell everyone.
To be continued...
Actually, you all, my dearest readers, may find out first. Tea is the answer! Did you know many teas are caffeinated, especially black teas? Tea is a perfect substitute for many drinks, such as soda, coffee, energy drinks, flavored water (Snapple, SoBe, Glaceau Vitamin Water), and many more atrocities! Why kill your body with these vicious poisons. They're messing with your brain, possibly even designed to brainwash you into wanting more and more after each deadly intake (Monosodium Glutamate does that, but that's another toxic that we'll talk about another time).
Anyway, tea has so many health benefits that it's so crazy how few people are drinking tea and living the life. Contrary to how many teas are caffeinated, Chamomile, a relaxing, herbal tea, is one of the best relaxants for after a long day of work. Perhaps you've been working at the construction site since 4:00 AM, and you just got home (3:00 PM) to your two boys who just got back from an exciting day at school. Still want to play with them? Drink some black tea! Want to relax with them? Share the Chamomile love.
Maybe you're feeling sad? Tea will help. Green Tea is good for fighting against depression, and if you're up for a happy-rush, why not try White Tea? White Tea actually increases serotonin, dopamine, and GABA levels (A.K.A. neurotransmitters that make you happy/relaxed). Not only does tea help your brain, but it also helps prevent cancer! CANCER! Can you believe it? With its abundance of antioxidants, your immune system will also become stronger (Psst, it also helps with heart disease).
If you don't like tea itself, a squeeze of lemon OR some milk mixed into tea can create a new, different experience for you. Remember, though, it's better to drink loose tea if you want to maximize the benefits.
(P.S. There is such thing as detox tea to help shed a few pounds)(P.S.S. Want more information on tea? Want to know my source of tea [No, it's not Teavana. That's WAY too overpriced]? Want to hear personal experiences with tea? Contact me!)

Benefits of Spinach on the Human Body by Ray Karns
Benefits of
Spinach on the Human Body
by Ray Karns
by Ray Karns
“CHACHACHACHA ME
LIKES WHAT ME LIKES”. Popeye had the right idea. Although the show never really
would show kids the benefits of eating spinach it’s basic idea is one of
genius. Put a face on one of the greatest foods imaginable. Despite being one
of the most nutrient filled foods in the world I would say the coolest thing
about spinach is it’s ability to help your gain strength thanks to its intense
amount of Vitamin C.
But still there
are many other benefits to spinach most are really helpful. For one the ability
to fight off diseases. For example the common cold can be avoided by just
having a serving of spinach in your diet. This happens because the heart is
strengthened by the famous Popeye cuisine. But from strengthening of the heart
comes other amazing effects like fighting off heart attacks.
Spinach is a
building block. The human body needs nutrients from our diet to form the things
the human body needs. Most notably is calories which is basically the gas of
the human body. But lutien which is a powerful ingredient that the body needs
comes from spinach. Lutien is needed because if protects us from harmfull rays
from the sun, so you will need lutien in everyday life when you step out of
your house. Especially for tans.
The last reason
it’s good for you is the taste factor. I like mine especially cooked but of
course that’s my opinion. Spinach is just a great part of a meal that you can
insert with almost everything to make going outside or gaining muscles a step
easier. But it doesn’t come without taste, which is fantastic. You don’t get
many other foods like this that are as delicious with providing the same
benifits

Benefits of Water on the Human Body by Kevin Strother
Benefits of Water on the Human Body
by Kevin Strother
The Human body is around 70% water, and therefore water is an
essential part of maintaining your health.
Reasons why YOU should drink water:
1. It can
help you lose weight. Even something as simple as drinking a cold glass of
water every day can help you lose weight, because your body has to use energy
to bring the water to the same temperature as your body. It also helps to
suppress your appetite. Sometimes people will misinterpret being dehydrated as
being hungry and will want to eat more, but drinking water can help to decrease
your appetite, and as an added benefit, it doesn't have any calories at all.
2. Drinking
water instead of juice and other sugar filled drinks is good for your skin. By
drinking water, the body is better able to flush out toxins out of the body,
and reduce any build up that might occur in the pores due to an inadequate
amount of liquid in the body.
3.
For athletes, it can reduce cramps. Cramps can be caused by
dehydration, as well as when you sweat when you're working out or playing a
sport. When you sweat, you lose salt and water, and that can ruin the
electrolyte balance causing swelling in the cells of your muscles, making the
cramp last longer. By drinking water and keeping your body hydrated you can
prevent cramps.
4.
Drinking pure water can help strengthen your immune system. It
helps to flush out toxins from the body, as well as keeping the body hydrated
which helps to fight infections. During a sickness, if the body is dehydrated,
then more strain will be put on the immune system which could result in a
longer amount of recovery time.
5.
Drinking water regularly can also help prevent headaches. Besides
being caused by stress and loud noises, headaches can also be caused by being
dehydrated. By drinking water throughout the day, you can help prevent
headaches. Drinking water can even help to cure an already existing headache.
In
just a short amount of time, this is the list of reasons I have compiled to
drink water. There are numerous reasons to regularly drink water: these are
just a handful of them. Drinking water will help you keep your health and
maintain your PhD lifestyle.
